Financial Compass is more than a business; it’s a community where people can find solace when they’re stumbling, connect with their own creative process, and discover the joy of shaping their own best life. The resources and conversations that happen here are one guidepost in that journey!
There are a few different popular approaches to personal finance services. The first is to offer broad, sweeping, generalized advice, with a dash of shame and guilt if you don’t apply that advice and then subsequently get rich. Yikes! No, thanks. The second approach offers a more individualistic approach, touting the claim that “Personal Finance should be personal.” This approach offers more space for individual differences in goals or values. However, I still find something lacking with this approach.
Financial Compass Coaching considers personal finance as both individual and inseparable from the overall society.
I take an individualistic, values-based approach to creating your financial plan, while also acknowledging the gaps in the system that undoubtedly influence and impact both the numbers and the overall execution of the plan. When you work with me you will find: No shame. No guilt. Massive amounts of grace. Complete solidarity with the struggle. Approachable advocacy. Solutions-based support.

At Financial Compass, we believe that financial coaching and counseling should be built on trust, partnership, and collaboration. To me, that means that we will each commit to the time and effort it takes to actively participate in creating and achieving your financial goals.
I currently offer three progressive coaching relationships, virtually, to help maximize time and effort to best suit your unique goals and needs.
My son and I hiking in Shenandoah National Park, 2019
Let’s get familiar with the terrain and the journey ahead. We’ll get your finances organized, find your financial True North (your values and goals), and finally plan your route towards reaching your financial goals.
My oldest girl and me at the top of Grandfather Mountain, 2019
We will spend the first month Orienteering and getting prepped for the trail ahead. We will then make the Trek together down the path to your first financial goals. Additionally, we will explore the landscape around your money habits and financial history, and the valleys and peaks they pose that impact your financial well-being.
Yosemite National Park, 2017
Let’s climb this mountain together and reach your ultimate financial goals at the summit! This option allows for us to work towards more complex financial goals and/or more than one financial goal. We will tailor this adventure to your unique life.
Additional coaching options and collaborative group work will also be available on a case by case basis.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. I can’t wait to see what you accomplish!
